Did you know that Wayne and Brent Gretzky are the highest-scoring pair of brothers in NHL history. Together they scored 2,861 points. Wayne totaled 2,857 points (894 goals, 1,963 assists) while his brother Brent scored one goal and had three assists.
This is a similar stat, although not quite as balanced as the Gretzky brothers. Today, Apple share price finished up about 0.78% giving Apple a market cap of 3.00 trillion. Meanwhile, Nectarine is a privately held, bootstrapped startup. Our trailing few months of revenue have been about $50K/month. A generous valuation might put us around $3M (5X annualized revenue).
If you add Nectarine’s speculated value to Apple’s, you get $3.000003 Trillion. And where I come from, that’s more than three!
That reminds me of a joke where a tour guide at a dinosaur museum is explaining that dinosaurs went extinct 65,000,004 years ago. When asked how he knew so accurately it was sixty-five million and four years ago, he explained that when he started working there it was 65 million years ago, and he’s worked there four years.
What does any of this have to do with personal finance?! Very little. Yet here we are.
As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often.
