Would you be able to tell the difference between these two Jeeps if you saw them driving down the road? Would you care? I doubt it…
But Edmunds estimates the total monthly cost of ownership (including gas, insurance, maintenance, depreciation, etc) is about $731/month MORE for owning the Rubicon over the Sport version of the Jeep Wrangler. If your goal is to retire with a million dollars, investing $731/month more gets you there NINE YEARS SOONER over the course of a career. The difference between these two Jeeps could literally mean nine years of freedom in your life.
And of course, these two exact cars don’t make sense for everyone. But our entire lives we’re presented with choices. Where we live and what we drive are two of our biggest financial choices. Is it possible for you to tweak either of those things to the tune of $731/month? How about $500 or $200? Would it be worth YEARS of your life to do so?
As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often.
